Foreign Trade Academy (FTA) wasn’t built just to help students earn another certificate. The idea was much simpler than that. We wanted people to leave the classroom knowing how the job actually works, not just how it’s described in a textbook.

Over the years, we’ve seen the same thing happen again and again. Students finish their education with plenty of theoretical knowledge, but when they’re handed an export document or asked about a customs procedure, many don’t know where to begin. It’s not because they aren’t capable. It’s because they were never shown the practical side of the industry.

That’s where our training is different.

At FTA, students spend time understanding the work they’ll eventually do in a logistics company, a freight forwarding firm, a shipping agency, or a customs brokerage. They learn documentation, cargo handling, freight operations, GST and customs clearance, ERP systems, and the everyday processes that keep international trade moving. We don’t believe these things are best learned by memorizing slides. They make more sense when you work through them step by step.

Our faculty members have spent years in the Export-Import and logistics industry themselves. So classes often include stories, real situations, and small details that rarely make it into course books but matter once you start working. Sometimes those practical lessons stay with students longer than any chapter ever could.

We welcome students from different educational backgrounds—Plus Two, BA, BSc, BCom, BBA, MBA, and graduates from India as well as overseas. Some join us right after college. Others are looking for a career change or want to enter the logistics industry for the first time. Different journeys, but usually the same goal: finding a career with real opportunities.

Learning doesn’t stop inside the classroom either. Industrial visits, live demonstrations, guest sessions from professionals, and hands-on exercises give students a chance to see how the industry works outside the training centre. It helps connect the theory with the reality of the job.

One number we’re genuinely proud of is this: more than 3,500 students have started their careers after training with FTA. Today, many of them work with shipping companies, freight forwarders, CHA firms, logistics providers, and multinational organisations. Seeing former students build successful careers is probably the strongest proof that practical training makes a difference.

We’re also an ISO 9001:2015 Certified institute, but if you ask us what matters more than a certification, we’d say it’s seeing students walk into an interview with confidence because they’ve already practised the kind of work they’re being hired to do.

The logistics industry isn’t slowing down. As businesses trade with more countries and supply chains become more connected, the demand for skilled professionals keeps growing. We believe good training should prepare people for that reality—not just help them pass an exam.

That’s what Foreign Trade Academy has been working towards from the beginning, and it’s what we’ll continue doing for every student who walks through our doors.
